General Rules and Terms and Conditions

1.    Closing date for entries is 31/12/09

2.    The competition is open to all citizens of the UK and Republic of Ireland of 16 years of age and over, except employees of Universal-Island Records Limited, a division of Universal Music Operations Limited and their associated, affiliated or subsidiary companies, and their families, agents, or anyone connected with this Competition including 1917 [     ] and their associated, affiliated or subsidiary companies, and their families, agents.

3.    Entry limited to one per person.

4.    No purchase is necessary.

5.    An eligible entrant must be an individual resident in the UK or Republic of Ireland.

6.    The winner of the Competition will be the entrant that writes the storyboard adjudicated by the Promoter and Universal-Island as the best storyboard entered into the Competition.

7.    The entrants represent and warrant that the storyboard submitted is the entrant’s original work and that it does not violate any agreement between the entrant and any third party and the storyboard does not infringe upon or violate any law, agreement or other rights of any kind, of any third party, without limitation, rights affecting copyright, contract, defamation, privacy or publicity.   The entrant agrees not to waive and/or assert any moral rights against the Promoter or Universal-Island Records.

8.    The winner agrees to assign the winning storyboard to Universal-Island with full title guarantee to the extent that Universal-Island shall own the same throughout the world for the full life of copyright.

9.    Neither the Promoter nor Universal-Island will be liable for any failure of receipt of entries.  Neither the Promoter nor Universal-Island will be liable for technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind or lost or unavailable network connections which may limit or prohibit an eligible entrant’s ability to participate in the Competition.

10.    The Promoter reserves the right, with or without cause, to exclude entrants and withhold prizes for violating any of these General Rules and the Terms and Conditions and Terms of Use.  The Promoter reserves the right to amend these General Rules. Any amendments will be published on the Website.

11.    The winner will win £500 and have the winning storyboard turned into a video promo [for the next Codeine Velvet Club???] track.  The aforementioned prizes shall represent full consideration for all rights and benefits granted to Universal-Island hereunder.

12.    The winner will be notified e-mail within five days??? of the closing date. All reasonable endeavours will be made to contact the winner during this time. If a winner cannot be contacted before this time on the email address supplied by the entrant with their entry, the Promoter reserves the right to select another entrant.

13.    There is no other alternative to the prizes stated and the prizes are not transferable and no part or parts of the prize may be substituted for other benefits, items or additions.

14.    Uses of personal data received by the Promoter and Universal-Island in the course of the competition are subject to the privacy policy found on the Website. The winner’s name may be published on the Website.

15.    By entering the competition all entrants are deemed to have accepted and be bound by these General Rules.

16.    Universal-Island reserves the right at any time to cancel, modify or supersede the competition (including altering prizes) if, in our sole discretion, a competition is not capable of being conducted as specified.

17.    If any of these clauses should be determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable then it shall be severed and deleted from these terms and conditions and the remaining clauses shall survive and remain in full force and effect.

18.    These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
