About Digging Your Scene
What is Digging Your Scene?
Digging Your Scene is a community made up of the most creative minds of our younger generation, who we hope will go on to become part of the creative industry of the future.
The site acts as a platform for all types of creative people to network with others who have skills in different areas, such as film makers and musicians, fashion stylists and photographers and so on. By finding each other and collaborating now, you just might give yourselves a head-start in your careers.
DYS allows members to promote themselves and join creative scenes they may want to associate with, such as music, film, fashion, photography, art and design, live performance, publishing, marketing, event management, broadcast media, print and digital.
In addition to providing an online networking tool, we aim to bring opportunities to our members by running networking events. DYS Live is a series of industry themed events we offer to showcase our members’ work in those sectors, with the added bonus of getting industry guests along to give advice and feedback. We also provide opportunities both online and through the events, by presenting members with exclusive offers, promotions and competitions.
How Does It Work?
Digging Your Scene is FREE and very easy to use.
1 – Register and create your profile
Simply register by creating your profile. Put in as much detail as you can to make your profile as complete as possible. And don’t worry, this won’t be sent out to 3rd parties who will then harass you with random post and email. This is purely to allow other people looking for someone like you to work with. This is your chance to market yourself.
2 – Join a scene
Now you’re a DYS member, you can browse the various creative scenes that you either consider yourself to be a part of or would like to get involved with. If you’re a film maker, as well as joining the film scene, you may want to join the music scene if you’re interested in shooting music videos, in case any opportunities come up. Equally, a graphic designer may want to join the photography scene in case there is some interesting developments amongst any budding photographers. Simply visit the scene and hit “join”.
3 – Search for other creative people
If you’ve got a specific project you’re working on, now you can begin to search for people from other creative backgrounds that might be able to contribute to your project. Equally, if you are looking to work on a project that will help you boost your portfolio, search for people looking for someone with your talent. You can do this in a variety of ways…either run a search using the search box on the left, start a new forum topic in the particular scene relevant to your project, or if you know who you’re after, visit their profile page and hit “send message”.
4 – Discuss topics in community forums
In the same way that you can use the forum to search for people and projects, use the forums to discuss ideas, ask the community questions or simply read what everyone else is talking about. You must join the scene in order to start a new forum topic, but once you’ve joined, simply hit “start new topic” and away you go.
As always, we really want your feedback because this is a site designed for you. If you want any changes or features added, let us know. To send us feedback, or contact us for any other reason you can join the “Digging Your Scene” scene and add your comments into the forum or send us a message, alternatively click here.
